Click on the link below to read about this Festival. The Refuge in Cahors will have a stand there for the dogs and some of the dogs get a day out too :) )))

Great day out for all the family – go and meet some of the refuge dogs and say hello!

Tryptique-2012

Such an elegant and joyful breed!

This breed does not do well being locked up!

Fanfare is 2 years old, vaccinated and tattooed. He’s gentle and VERY affectionate and just loves to play and run free when a kind French lady who volunteers at the refuge, takes him out once a week – here in the pictures.

These beautiful dogs suffer terribly in any refuge but Saintes is HUGE and the stress levels very high for all the dogs – some cope better than others!

Fanfare is young and full of life and very kind, so if you can give him the home he needs please contact us on :- 05 65 69 12 26 or email direct at :- doglinks.fr@gmail.com

If you love Setters you will not be disapppinted in this dog, if you have yet to know what it is like to own a Setter…. then this fellow will show you what a joy they are! We know very well as we have one just like him!

All cute, all needing care and love!

Elvis – little Yorkie

Cooper and Micha – too tiny to tell what breed – innocent and frightened!

Please contact us if you can help any of these little ones and for more information. They will all be vaccinated and chipped in the coming days. Thank you.

Just one year old but no good at hunting so was going to be killed!

Ghaicha is a small Andalusian Podenca. She was rescued from some gypsies who had already destroyed her brother because they were useless hunters. A local villager rescued another brother. Now the people who have Ghaicha at the moment cannot keep her for many days so we have to find her a foster home very urgently. She is an utterly adorable little dog who gets along with dogs, cats and children, she is happy, playful and very affectionate. She will need a fenced garden and a bit of training to walk on a lead but she is clean and healthy.

Please contact us as soon as possible for more details of how to help her! :- 05 65 69 12 26 or email us direct at doglinks.fr@gmail.com Thank you.

I RESCUED A HUMAN TODAY

Her eyes met mine as she walked down the corridor peering apprehensively into the kennels.
I felt her need instantly and knew I had to help her.
I wagged my tail, not too exuberantly, so she wouldn’t be afraid.
As she stopped at my kennel I blocked her view from a little accident I had had in the back of my cage.
I didn’t want her to know that I hadn’t been walked today.
Sometimes the shelter keepers get too busy and I didn’t want her to think poorly of them.
As she read my kennel card I hoped that she wouldn’t feel sad about my past.
I only have the future to look forward to and want to make a difference in someone’s life.
She got down on her knees and made little kissy sounds at me.
I shoved my shoulder and side of my head up against the bars to comfort her.

Gentle fingertips caressed my neck; she was desperate for companionship.
A tear fell down her cheek and I raised my paw to assure her that all would be well.
Soon my kennel door opened and her smile was so bright that I instantly jumped into her arms.
I would promise to keep her safe. I would promise to always be by her side.
I would promise to do everything I could to see that radiant smile and sparkle in her eyes.
I was so fortunate that she came down my corridor.

So many more are out there who haven’t walked the corridors.
So many more to be saved. At least I could save one.
I rescued a human today.

Confused, affectionate, loving and charming!

Not a big lad – just nicely on the smaller medium size.

Martin is a young dog of about 3 yrs old the vet says, chipped and vaccinated. A wandering stray hanging around a village looking for scraps, he was taken in by a kind lady. Unable to keep him on a permanent basis because of returning overseas, she reluctantly took him to the refuge in Cahors, where she knew he would be safe from being put to sleep (as threatened by her local Mairie) and where he stands a chance of finding a loving home.

Whilst Martin was with his rescuer, she told us that he was good with her cats, other dogs, people and extremely affectionate and no trouble at all other than he hated to be left alone! This is hardly unusual given that he was fending for himself and then having suddenly found food, kindness and affection…… he immediately panicked when his lady was out of sight poor fellow!

We think Martin is a handsome, compact and untroubled dog, other than he is now overwhelmed by losing his lovely lady and finding himself in a very noisy refuge! With care and attention he will quickly become a firm, loyal family pet once his confidence is restored. The refuge staff say he’s charming! He will need a good enclosed garden to start with till he feels at home and finds his boundaries – a country home is something he would love.

Please contact us on :- 05 65 69 12 26 or email us direct at :- doglinks.fr@gmail.com if you think you would like to make Martin part of your family. Thank you.

Please adopt!

If you would like to adopt a dog, there are many more than shown here as we try to limit our postings to no more than two or three a day so as not to make the pages too long! Dog:links is updated daily so even the dogs that seem a long way down the line are still needing homes unless otherwise stated in the title – so please keep scrolling down to see them all.

Also we have many more dogs available, far too many sadly, so please just email us or call if there is a particular kind of dog you would prefer to adopt for reasons particular to your situation and circumstances…….. we are here to help, advise and hopefully match the right dog to the right home and family! It’s a decision that should never be taken lightly and for all concerned, it has to be carefully thought through.

Thank you and remember, please adopt – don’t breed or boost the puppy farms!
