Hettie was found in the pound in October, pregnant with 8 pups, and was grimly waiting to be put to sleep. Phoenix Association (www.phoenixasso.com) rescued them all, and the puppies were re-homed. Hettie is 7 years old, weighs about 30 kg, is in excellent health, is fun and lively, gets on with other dogs, is good with cats, horses and donkeys and is scared of chickens!! She has a beautiful nature and is a mix of griffon / shepherd, and has a wanderlust if she picks up a scent – but this is her only downfall! A secure, high-fenced garden would be a must. She is gentle, loves people, is completely house-trained, can be left alone for up to 4 hours and is fine in the car.

Hettie is vaccinated (including rabies) and also holds a passport, so is ready to travel! She’s de-flead, ticked and wormed. If you think you would like to offer a permanent home for Hettie, then please contact Jane on 07 86 25 08 43 or harman_hunt@yahoo.co.uk Or contact us here on :- 05 65 69 12 26 or email doglinks.fr@gmail.com

Found wandering by an English family who have taken him in, Billie is estimated to be about 18 months old. Good with other dogs, children and cats, Billie is a real beauty.

Please contact us if you can give this little chap a good home :- 05 65 69 12 26 or email us direct at :- doglinks.fr@gmail.com and we can put you in touch with the people who are looking after him. Thank you.

This is not a happy story!

Chelsea

Zorro

Chelsea was adopted by an English family last year and then they also took on a puppy whom you now see here, Zorro. Chelsea is 5 years old, spayed and chipped. Zorro is just a year old vaccinated but not chipped or neutered as yet.

The family have hit hard times here in France and are selling up and going back to the UK but cannot take the dogs with them. Both dogs and people have had a hard winter with grim shelter as the pictures show and Chelsea in particular is an unhappy dog and desperately needs to find a kind and understanding couple who will reassure her and bring her confidence back. Both dogs are intelligent and affectionate, good with other dogs, cats and children – Chelsea is very good on the lead and like all Border Collies, willing to learn. They do not need to be homed together – in fact Chelsea would be much better off without Zorro as she is a little more timid and unsure and would benefit from some one to one attention.

Dog:links considers that Chelsea is an urgent case and so if you would like to help her, or Zorro, please contact us on :- 05 65 69 12 26 or email us direct on :- doglinks.fr@gmail.com Both are lovely dogs and just need a few home comforts and TLC which has been in short supply of late. Please get in touch urgently if you can help. Thank you!

DOG COATS

We need dog coats to help the refuge dogs combat the cold! The poor dogs use up what little physical resources they have trying to keep warm and their immune systems are already low and their diets meagre! Please can you help?

If you have time and an idle sewing machine, the skill and some warm off-cuts of material (double layers would be good), we would be so grateful to be able to fit any size you can make, on lots of very cold, skinny dogs – young and old – who are struggling to survive.

Donations on this page would also be very welcome for this cause, toward the purchase of simple dog coats. The coats enable a dog to contain the warmth it manages to generate better than a blanket (if it’s lucky enough to have one in its cage!) and protect it from draughts. Winter has not done with us yet so spare a thought for the poor dogs in unheated shelters and if you can make a donation, we will do the rest. Thank you!

Soulful eyes!

Toudou is an extremely friendly fellow with a great personality! He’s about 6/7 years old. Vaccinated, chipped and castrated so all ready for adoption. Toudou will need a fenced garden and some domestic training but he’s bright as a button, quick to catch on as Beagles are and full of energy and fun. He was adopted within days of arriving at the refuge due to his very appealing nature but was returned almost the next day because they did not have a fenced garden and he ran off…….well not unexpected and we were a bit fed up that this was not properly organised. So here he is again and all he needs is some sensible care and attention this time round! Most dogs first let out of the refuge and into freedom will have an explore given the chance which is why we always tell people they MUST keep leads on in the first weeks till the dog establishes its new surroundings and realises where it belongs. Common sense and avoids trouble with neighbours, potential accidents and so on. It’s surprising how many people thing they can just pick up a dog, take it home and expect it to immediately fit in and understand the boundaries without help! People who think they know better and choose to ignore the advice given when all the rescue dogs go out – so please take this into account.

So if you like the look of Toudou, and who wouldn’t…. please contact us on :- 05 65 69 12 26 or email us direct at :- doglinks.fr@gmail.com meet him and take him for a walk and offer him the chance to be the good companion he so wants to be. Teach him a few of the ropes and he’ll never look back. Toudou NEEDS a home urgently please. Thank you.

This pretty little dog is vaccinated, chipped and sterilised. Just nine months old, Pingui and her brother Kinder, were abandoned at Christmas. The dogs are currently being fostered with an English couple in Brittany and living in a domestic household. Pingui is house trained, very affectionate and well on the way to learning the basic commands, but she needs a family to call her own. She’s intelligent and quick to learn, good with other dogs and will make a lovely family pet.

Please contact us if you can give Pingui the home she deserves, on 05 65 69 12 26 or email us on :- doglinks.fr@gmail.com

Thank you.

He’s becoming a bit of a bruiser and needs a home to grow into!

Chapo is coming up for six months old. He and his sister were dumped over the refuge wall just before Christmas when they were four months old. The little girl has since been adopted and is very happy. Now Chapo is going to be a dominant fellow until he is very kindly taught some manners and soon! He’s not full Shar Pei, possibly got some labrador in there, but he’s a handsome fellow and will be a nice dog with the right training. The refuge is no place for this boy so please, if you feel able to give Chapo the home he urgently needs, contact us on :- 05 65 69 12 26 or email us at :- doglinks.fr@gmail.com

It’s not his fault he’s been abandoned and left to fend for himself – please help him. Thank you.

Unaware of her cold fate!

This is Bella – She was born in February 2006 and is tattooed, vaccinated and sterilised. She has been very well looked after all her life and has been living in a lovely warm house until yesterday, when she was brought into the SPA at Carcassonne, right in the middle of the coldest week of the year. These photos were taken before she had any idea of what was happening and where she was going. She is now in a freezing cold kennel!

She was abandoned because her owner is in hospital and unlikely to recover. The sister is clearly not a dog lover, and getting rid of Bella was in no way and emotional experience. It was like throwing away a dirty sock. We would love Bella to find a home as soon as possible and spare her as much of the trauma she will now go through as possible. She is fine with other dogs, fine with children but NOT fine with cats.

Please contact us if you can give Bella a home again on :- 05 65 69 12 26 or email us at :- doglinks.fr@gmail.com Her confusion and stress will be considerable and she has done nothing wrong poor dog. Please help save Bella.

Special home needed for Titan.

Titan is 5 years old and needs someone experienced, kind and who has TIME to understand and help him. Titan is currently living a solitary life at the refuge apart from once a day when he is let into the exercise yard – and this is certainly no life for any dog let alone one as intelligent as Titan. This is a clever dog and has the potential to be an amazing companion like no other…. but he needs understanding. A dog behaviourist came to visit him and spend some time with him and was impressed by this dog and the intelligence he demonstrates but was saddened to find that Titan feels betrayed, uncertain at times of other dogs and suddenly guarded for no apparent reason. He clearly wants to be loved and enjoys being in the company of people most of the time, but then fear creeps in and he pulls away. What this dog needs is a one to one relationship with his own ‘human being’ whom he can learn to trust completely and who will not confuse him or let him down! A home without children or other pets and with a person who is prepared to be patient and see the potential of this dog to be a lifelong, loyal and amazing companion. But is there someone out there who can do this and bring this dog back into the real world we wonder?

If you think this could be you, please give us a call on :- 05 65 69 12 26 or email us direct on :- doglinks.fr@gmail.com and have a chat about Titan. It is a huge waste of a wonderful dog who has been suffered at the hands of a bad owner but is prepared to try again with the right one! Thank you.

He’s confused, timid and kind.

Vinyl is just 2 years old and needs a family to call his own! No longer a puppy but still very young and perfect age to begin to learn the routine and fit in. Vaccinated and chipped, Vinyl is timid because he’s been abandoned and now finds himself in the chaos of the refuge – it’s thought he’s a failed hunting dog who has been thrown out. He’s very affectionate and keen to have cuddles as he learns people aren’t going to hurt him – a bit of a sweetie then and he will soon learn how happy life can be once he finds a caring home and will blossom into a confident, loyal companion very quickly.

Please contact us on :- 05 65 69 12 26 or email us direct at :- doglinks.fr@gmail.com to help this good dog find a happy, contented life that has so far evaded him. Thank you.

All legs!

I’m just 10 weeks and going to be a chunky boy!

Cute too!

Flocon is still a baby and we’re not entirely sure what mix he is as yet. He’s chipped and his first vaccinations done. It’s not great for him being in the cold and damp refuge poor boy and having to mix with the big dogs – not right for a puppy who needs to be learning the ropes and getting lots of love and affection!

Please contact us if you can give this adorable ‘teddy bear’ a loving and caring home where he will learn to be a good dog and enjoy life :- 05 65 69 12 26 or email us at :- doglinks.fr@gmail.com Thank you.

Three long years he’s been in his cage at the refuge!

Taz is now 6 years old – but he was only three when he arrived at the refuge! He really has been there far too long and it’s so unfair because he’s such an affectionate fellow who adores people. He makes friends with other dogs and then they find homes and somehow he is overlooked. Vaccinated, chipped and castrated and because he has been there so long, his adoption dog::links will take on the adoption fee for the right home and a family who is going to love him and care of him for the rest of his life. He’s medium sized, will need a fenced garden till he understands where his boundaries are because he’s been so long in a cage and freedom will mean a lot to him. He has had to defend himself over the years in the refuge and so can be dominant with other males but good with the girls and can also get along with some males with the right introduction. He’s a lovely boy and deserves a life outside the confines and chaos of the refuge, so please think hard about giving this good fellow a chance and get in touch with us on :- 05 65 69 12 26 or email us on :- doglinks.fr@gmail.com We know he won’t disappoint given a chance. Thank you.

Fit, lively fellow waiting to be free!

Galeo is 2 years old – micro chip no 250 269 500 421 189 – castrated and vaccinated – just ready to go.

Intelligent, keen to learn, full of energy, very lively – needs an active family, preferably not with small children as he’s a bit boisterous at the moment, but older ones who will give him plenty of fun with a football would be fine – Galeo just loves to play! He was a bit dominant with other males at first but mainly just sticking up for himself in the chaos of the refuge poor lad and he has since been castrated and also having his own space in his own family will make all the difference to this bright dog.

If you think you can give Galeo the home he needs and the life he deserves, please contact us on :- 05 65 69 12 26 or email us :- doglinks.fr@gmail.com Thank you.

Porcelaine is an Ariegeoise, 6 years old, microchipped  250 269 500 474 040, vaccinated and spayed.

She’s a lovely girl, gentle despite her size, arrived at the refuge very thin and showing signs of recent puppies (or perhaps many in the past). She is very sociable with other dogs, but timid; not pushy, but she loves a fuss.

Please contact us on 05.65.69.12.26 or email us direct at doglinks.fr@gmail.com if you can give Porcelaine a home. Thank you.
